January 2016 – Sea of Cortez Los Cabos
The colder currents have arrived in Los Cabos causing a change in the fish species and also behaviour. Mornings currently are brisk until around 8:30am rising to temperatures around 27C/81F in late afternoon. Currently out at Iman Banks there are large schools of yellowfin tuna ranging from 10lbs to 45lbs with the exceptions of a few larger ones. Inner Gordo banks is producing some medium size yellowfin tuna plus a few Wahoo. Outta Gordo Banks is producing the odd large cow yellowfin tuna (150+lbs) with also a few sharks being caught. Over in Palmilla anglers are reeling in a large amount of Dorado and Wahoo – making for a great time WAHOO lol. Being closer to the shorelines in the morning ended with success as good schools of rooster fish are being landed resulting in a lack of chicken in the area. A larger school of striped marlin have arrived keeping anglers searching for marlin hooking up with either 1 or 2 marlin a trip. That is your Fish update for San Jose del Cabo.
